the blue contrasts with the orange background. the tagline is smaller but still stands out, the other titles stand out and the purple circle in the bottom right is clear and draws attention. The intention of all of these things is to create a cover that will stand out from the croud and draw the attention of my targert audience.

School Mag
I have aplyed a light blue background to my magazine so as to not over power the main image. the title mixes to much with the backgroud so I will change the colour to emphosise the Masthead. I have also added a sub title in an action font to attract atention and make it look dramatic.

I have placed the centeral image slightly over the title as it is the focus,I have added the second word smaller and in lower case as it is a less significant word.

strongly related to feature article,there are conotations of the image. they are rellevant to the magazine (usuly) These must be bold and dramatic so as to attract attention to the magazine and create an astheticly pleasing cover.

TAGLINE  gows neer the title, tells you what its about or whos it for. These are often slogens that will clearly and memrably advertise the magazines perpose and content.

the masthead usuly apears at the top of the magazine as it is obvious, allows space for imnages and in a news rack you can see the title.
colour, font and letter case are all significant.

The inportantce of a mast head is to attract attention to a recognisable brand when your magazine is on a news stand. Therefore it will havew to be big and bold as I have seen in my style models such as 'Q' and 'MOJO'

We lookied at several music magazines to look at characteristics that we could use in our own music magazines. I looked at 'Q' and 'WIRE' and noticed features of them:
Large front cover image
Bold title
tag lines in differant sizes depending on there inportance
large pictures to attract attention
bold headlines


the magazines veryed in there content as 'Q' focuses on more mainstreem music and well known artists, while 'WIRE' involves all forms of music including well known and unknown music. 'WIRE' has no perticular focus brand of music ither.

First stage of school mag cover.

The 'S' stands for school allowing the title to take up a small amopunt of space. The image is large and eye caching to draw attention. I chose this image insted of my privious choice as I felt it was more inkeeping with my style models.

I intend to use the top photo for my front cover as I belive it is more interesting. The upward angle of the shot gives a dramatic look to my layout. However I may use it as a shot for the contents insted as I feel I could find a more apropriate over shot.

I will use aspects of the covers of other magazines I have looked at to influance the desicions I make on my own pice of work. The perpose of looking at style models befor creating my own magazine was to give me an idea of the features I should be including in my own work.

Here is a pencil mock up of a possible cover for my school magazine.  I have created a cover with one image on and a bold mast head. This is only a basic image of what I intend to create and I will build on this to create my final piece.

This is an example of a student magazine, I will use this as influance for my own magazine. The magazine cover is simple yetafective and has a clear colour scheme, I intend to astablish simmilar features in my own magazine.

I wanted my magazine to be interesting and fun as it is for collage students and I knew they would not be interested if it ws not fun.
